High prevalence colistin-resistant E. coli rural communities Vietnam
Researchers of Osaka University found a prevalence of 70% of colistin-resistant Escherichia coli in intestines in Vietnam residents. Colistin kills or inhibits the growth of Gram-negative bacteria, such as E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and is listed on the WHO Essential Medicines List (EML) as a last-resort antibiotic.
